Grimm touring exhibition
The city of Hanau honours the Brothers Grimm - From Rumpelstiltskin, Sleeping Beauty up to Hansel and Gretel: The touring exhibition "Enchanted forest and magic Castle" arrives Hanau just for the great days of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm.
The exhibition is presented by the Registered Society of Brothers Grimm until the 31st of January 2010. The target group of this exhibition are children of elementry schools and kindergarten. There are six stands, each one is representing one of the most well known tales of the Brothers Grimm. You will find there Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and Hansel and Gretel as well. On each boot the children are able to face up the life and action of the Brothers Grimm vividly in interaction. Displays of the remained two starters of the competition for the projected Brothers Grimm Culture-Center and City Library are giving a current contribution.
During this exhibition, the local comic artist Rautie offers a drawing-workshop for kids each sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock pm.
In December 2009 and January 2010 we celebrate memorial days of this two most considerable sons of Hanau. On the 16th of December we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Wilhelm Grimm's death and Jacob Grimm was born on the 4th of January 1785 in Hanau - 225 years before today. Nowadays, a memorial in front of the new townhall is reminiscent of the Brothers Grimm.
Cause the city of Hanau owns a big fundus, the touring exhibition is endorsed by additional exhibits, rather meant for the adult visitors. You can see the former exhibition "Hanau and the Brothers Grimm" (shown during the annual exhibition of the citicens feast in 2007). The municipal museum administration built up additional tales corners. Finally the costumes of the annually Hanau Brother Grimm Theatre Festival conjures a lot of coloured spots into the lounge of the town hall.
